Lincoln's Career Journey
Where it all began
SOB's
Lincoln got into the concert business by accident. Originally from Syracuse, he moved to New York City from Key West in 2006 to be a working musician. Hand surgery took him out of performing for several months, leading him to an online marketing job for SOB’s– a legendary world music venue. SOB’s owner Larry Gold was shocked at the encouraging results from promoting online, and wanted to expand his programming to rock ‘n roll. The problem he had was nobody at the venue knew anything about rock ‘n roll bands, so he enlisted Lincoln and trained him as a talent buyer. For the next 3 years Lincoln worked for SOB’s on showcases including Kanye West, Common,Lucky Dube, Vusi Mahlasela, Hugh Masekela, Seun Kuti, DJ Rekha and even a couple of his rock ‘n roll heroes; Phil Lesh and Warren Haynes.
ONLINE MARKETING
MTV
Because of his progress with online marketing, MTV hired Lincoln to work in the marketing department part time while still at SOB’s. Originally he was hired to promote the 2007 Woody Awards for MTVu, but was kept on to work on 4 different shows over the next 3 years, including writing the sex questions for Dr. Ruth’s show, SexCred.
DIRECTOR OF ENTERTAINMENT
Hill Country Live
In 2010, the restaurant and music venue Hill Country Barbecue Market was growing and hired Lincoln to start booking national country acts to play at their venue on 26th Street. Lincoln, along with owner Marc Glosserman, created the brand Hill Country Live and Lincoln served as their first Director of the new music company. Over the next two and a half years he booked top roots acts including Shooter Jennings, Billy Joe Shaver, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Lukas Nelson, and a benefit concert for the Nashville flood relief in 2010 with Rosanne Cash. He also was the first person to book the band Blackberry Smoke in New York City. In his time with Hill Country, Lincoln helped open and run their restaurant and venue in Washington DC, hosted the first Americana Music Association event in New York City and presented 2 years of official showcases at SXSW.
TALENT BUYER
The Cutting Room
In the late summer of 2012, Lincoln was introduced to Steve Walter, owner of The Cutting Room and co-owner Chris Noth, the ‘Mr. Big’ actor from Sex and the City. They were getting ready to re-open the venue in an extraordinary new space on 32nd Street and offered Lincoln the Booking Manager position. In the first 3 months, Lincoln landed separate Billy Joel, Zac Brown and Emmylou Harris concerts in the intimate venue. Over the next 3 years Lincoln booked and produced a 3 night run with Ronnie Wood and Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones, a powerful Pete Seeger concert that was one of his last performances, an evening with Rodriguez after his documentary “Searching For Sugarman” won the Oscar, and a live SiriusXM broadcast with Howard Stern that included performances by Pink, Tony Bennett, Melissa Etheridge, Idina Menzel, Billy Joel and Boyz 2 Men.
TALENT BUYER & MEDIA REPRESENTIVE
Opry City Stage
Lincoln joined the Opry City Stage team in November of 2016 and began developing the programming strategy for the Grand Ole Opry’s first venue outside of Nashville. Along with Ryman Hospitality/Opry Entertainment and their New York partners. In the first year of being open Opry City Stage hosted the biggest names in country music, including a live Good Morning America broadcast with a performance by Luke Bryan and a live SiriusXM broadcast with Jason Aldean. Aside from being a Talent Buyer/Booking Manager for the venue, Lincoln became the Venue Representative, with many TV appearances and print interviews promoting the concept and the brand.
MANAGEMENT & BOOKING AGENCY
Elephess
In 2017, Lincoln founded Elephess to fill a unique niche in the entertainment industry where his experience with high profile booking and creative marketing could be leveraged. Elephess specialized in booking, marketing, management and content for artists, venues, and brands. Here Lincoln tapped into his hippie roots, working with Jimi Hendrix's bassist and close friend Billy Cox on all aspects of his career including supporting two national tours with Experience Hendrix that featured Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Zakk Wylde, Joe Satriani, and many others. Lincoln also worked with another Woodstock ulumni Melanie Safka, putting on her performance at the 50th anniversary of Woodstock right outside the original grounds at Catskills Distilling Co. and worked directly with Woodstock co-founder Michael Lang on speaking engagements.
FOUNDER & CEO
SHOWX
In 2019 Lincoln founded SHOWX, the first company to create a viable way for musicians to sell tickets directly to their fans and own their first-party data. The company was met with adversity and disbelief that this goal could be accomplished, even from many sympathizers deep within the concert industry that could affect change but wouldn't risk rocking the boat. Despite this, Lincoln built a rock star team of music industry elite that perservered through the pandemic and Covid variants, through tough funding rounds and looming recessions he raised well over $1mm and built a network of over 300 venues across the country and over 1,000 verified touring bands. To date SHOWX has created concerts across the country including over 150 bands booking performances at SXSW on our platform in 2023.
